The condition of both estates is reported to be satisfactory.
The cleaning up of rough growths undertaken last year has proved very beneficial to the trees and the cost of upkeep is now greatly reduced. Root disease continues to levy its toll of trees. The wet weather caused a certain amount of pink disease, but this was immediately dealt with. The labour force was ample for requirements, but wages had to be increased, Buildings were maintained in good condition.
'The output of rubber for the year amounted to 517,231 1b. of which IChengal Estate contributed 291,594 Ib. fand Goodheart Estate 225,637 1b. compared with a combined output last year of 591,085 Ib. 'The quantlly of Fubber sold' up to the time that the accounts were made up was 458,472 1b. which realised an average net price of 5.17 pence per pound compared with' 5.06 pence por pound in 1994. Standard production for 1036 has been fixed at 710,178 Th. which is an increase of 19,078 Ib. compared with the previous year. The sum of $5,097.35 was spent on maintaining the nonproducing areas on the two estates.
We do not necessarily always see eye to eye with them but Mr. Moss carries on our local traditions and we are satisfied that any prob-Jems which may arise will be settled fairly and frankly as should always be possible between honest men of ood will.
Tt is fitting to mention in this connection the settlement by Mr. Moss, actually January 1, 1990, of the Rendition of the Kuling Estate after Toni days of patient negotiation.
