Brant Gatiy gon Ames Eddie Is. William Benedict "Mr. Wentwhistie -Maurice Cass Six young women, making their way through life as well as possible in the tumult of the big city, are the main figures in "Walking Down which is now showing at the Cathay Theatre, Trouble and tragedy are their lot and one by one they are eliminated by fate from the little circle of friendship that had set out so confidently. Of the si Miss Claire Trevor, as the level headed Joan Bradle: the leader and the picture is concerned mainly with her desperate and often tearful efforts io rescue one or another of her friends from disaster. The tempo ai the big city is maintained skilfully with traffic noises mingling with the incessant hurried and brittle talk of the characters. Drama is squeezed out of the situations in big drops and the acting is sufficiently convincing to rake the piece quite absorbing though a little heavy for hot wenther.—R.R.R.
