Harris (bow), covered the 43. miles from Jessfield to Henli in 6 hours and 11 minutes, thereby breaking the old record for the distance by an hour and 48 minutes. This crew recorded this time in the early hours of yesterday morning. They started from Jessfield shortly before two o'clock in the morning and arrived st Henli soon after eight o'clock.
The four-oared crew which slarted off an hour before them failed to break the four-oared record by 24 minutes, covering he distance in 6 hours and o7 minutes, or 46 minutes longer than was taken by the pair, 'The four was unfortunate. 'They di not know the route well, and stopped many occasions to learn their whereabouts, thereby losing time. They rowed' in the following order: A. Pressler (stroke), 7. Thowsen, H. Ley, V. Fabian (bow).
Legge and Harris won the international pairs in the recent Henli Fegatta and their performance yesterday caps a fine season's achievement. They were very exhausted when they rowed into Henli and both looked as though they had been subject to great strain. Their cox, the Club's No. 1 laodah was very jubilant about their success and very" impressed by the way in Which they Fefused to stop to rest more than twice, Incidentally the time set up by Legge and Harris that, day was 22 minutes better than the existing four-oar record of 6 hours 33 minutes set up by P, Wilson's crew.
