"Furthermore," the letters say, "the whereabouts and movements of all members of your families have been carefully investigated and if you do not correct your mistakes you will be killed as traitors and all members of your families will be beheaded." The last phrase used in this sentence is an old Chinese saying which does not only mean wholesale execution but also confiscation of property.
"You are all Chinese and should not borrow foreign names in order to run your personality. We hope you will accept our demand. If you want to find the shortest way to death wait for a short time."
The letter was posted on Sunday but up to yesterday afternoon only three newspapers the "Hwa Mi Wan Pao," the "China Evening News both foreign-owned Chinese newspapers, and the "North-China Daily News" had received such communications.
Text read from the printed page and cleaned; old type leaves the occasional error.
