Padres Nearly Felled by the Cellarites San Francisco, July 17.
Five games played in the Pacific Coast League to-day left Sam Diego still perched precariously at the top of the heap, with the seven other clubs trailing in the same order as yesterday. A narrow \5-4 victory over the Missions, themselves the current inhabitants of the cellar, sustained the Southerners' leadership for another day.
Sacramento's bid for the premier position was reinforced by a victory over the Angels, 4-2.
