Attack on Republican Warships Attempted Hendaye, Oct. 10.
In a sudden burst of land and air activity extending the battle fronts in the Ebro sector end near Madrid, the Nationalists also raided the Republican base at Cartagena.
Five Nationalist bombers carried out two bombing raids on five Republican warships but the' bombs were ineffective although fifteen buildings were destroyed and two persons in the town killed.
A raid on Valencia badly damaged a British steamer in transit.
Meanwhile a report from Saragozza claimed Nationalist advances near Madrid. In the Villa Franco sector ;|on the Cordoba front the capture of several Republican positions were claimed but later denied by the Spanish Republican Government—United Press.
