Ebro Front, Oct. 11.
Republican forces operating on this front launched a successful offensive today on the Sierras Collde Coso and Pandols, threatening to re-establish their positions near Gandesa, a Havas correspondent reported today.
Within a few hours after the attack had started, the Republicans were in possession of positions which the Nationalists had previously—taken weeks to conquer, notably the famous Height 350 dominating the Sierra Collde Coso and the Height 705 overlooking the Sierra Pandols.
In the Sierra Pandols sector the.
Republicans, attacking suddenly, advanced two kilometres crossing the Santa Madalena ravine where the hardest battles on the Ebro front were fought a month ago. Taking full advantage of their initial success, the Republican troops launched an offensive against the Sierra Pandols itself, successively occupying several heights which they abandoned two months ago, following which they rushed down the moun-tarnside on the heels of Nationalists fleeing in panic towards Gandese, and seized Height 666 which supports Height 705.
Today, the Nationalists counterattacked continuously, strongly supported by their aviation, in an ettempt to recapture Height 350, but every one of their attempts failed.
