Pat Madar Bowled

Lunch, was taken with the total reading 80 for 3, Divecha and Pat Madar being the batsmen holding the fort. At 117, Leach replaced Jenkins and with his second ball, bowled the Recs' captain neck and crop, when it seemed that a profitable partnership was in the offing.

Quincey and Leriou contributed 32 valuable runs between them, while all the timè Divecha was keeping his end going, pushing a single here and there with a very oveasional boundary to enliven the proceedings a little. Tea arrived with the board reading 217-for 6 and the many spectators on hand imagined that there was a distinct possibility of the game ending in a draw, but the Recs' tail failed to wag and the side was finally all out for 239, scored from exactly 70 overs or 560 balls, which gives a very sound idea of the slow rate of pro-Piet with only 76 to win. the SCC.s opening pair went for the rubs as soon as they reached the crease, but both Pote-Hunt and Dean were retired when the board read 24, the former being clean bowled by Madar and the latter brilliantly stumped by Leriou. Booth and Duckitt, however, made no mistakes, adding 52 in 35 minutes for an undefeated partnership to give the S.C.C. an easy victory.
