If Britain Persists

"Should Britain persist in her pr ent attitude without reconsidering, the Government of China will be compelled to take a further step in executing the necessary measures to uphold its legal power and maintain order. I earnestly hope, however, that the British authorities will from, their own interest and in good faith take counsel from their wisdom. In such an event, they should not only hand over the criminals but carry, out a thoroughgoing reform of the concession system by executing a wholesale revision of their egoistic policies of assisting Chiang Kai-shek and encouraging the Communists, Thus will peril be changed to safety.

"Once this is realized, the atmos phere in East Asia will be cleared up. People who aspire for peace om earth will then rejoice," Mr. Lien Chungking, June 18—The American Ambassador, Mr. Nelson T. Johnson, and the French Ambassador, M. Henri Cosme, called separatedly on General Chiang Kai-shek yesterday.—Reuter.
