King Sees National Service Forces

20,000 Men and Women on Parade in Hyde Park London, July 2.

The King, accompanied by Queen Mary, today reviewed 20,000 men and women, representing 2,000,000 National Service volunteers, in Hyde Park. He saw a composite picture of the whole National Service organization in the United Kingdom, including every branch of A.R.P. in the country.

The march past, in which 200 mechanized vehicles took part, lasted for over an hour.

In the morning, the King and Queen attended a service of thanksgiving in Westminster Abbey, on the occasion of their return from Canada, Newfoundland and the United States. The Cabinet was represented by Sir Thomas Inskip, Secretary of State for the Dominions, and Lieutenant-Colonel D. J. Colville, Secretary of State for Scotland.

The congregation sang the National Anthem at the beginning of the service, The Dean read prayers for the King and the Royal Family, which were followed by special prayers for peace.—Reuter.
