New York Sugar Market

New York, Sept. 10.

After being steady on covering, the sugar market during the week under review reacted to fears of further quota increase. The raw sugar market remained unchanged, but inquiry improved. This week's sales amounted to 310,000 bags of Philippines sugar and 20,000 bags of Cuban sugar. Traders are wondering when ther the current price will be maintained.

Mr. Henry Wallace, Secretary of Agriculture, has intimated that it may be necessary to revise the consumption estimate, in order to force a decline in the interest of the consumer. This created caution. with few traders at present inclined to venture an opinion regarding the future course of values.—Reuter.
