Washington, Nov. 13.
JAMING that the United States Army was lagging behind other Powers' forces, General Maun Craig, Chief-of-Staff of the War Department's General Staff, in his annual report today urged the Government promptly to increase the size of the Army and improve the equipment in order that the military forces could meet "whatever they may be called upon to face."
He strongly recommended that the Government dui g the 1940 fiscal year establish the authorized strength of the Army at 168,000 enlisted men compared with the present figures of 165,000 to meet the need of strengthening and building the air corps to the full and legal strength of 2,320 first line planes.
