Budget estimates for the 1939-40 fiscal year was finally approved by the Cabinet today.
After a series of consultations with various government departments the Finance Ministry set the amount of the national budget for the next fiscal year at Y.3,094,000,000, which is an increase of Y.180,000,000 over the budget for the current fiscal year.
Revenue will comprise Y.2,- 372,825,000 from ordinary and Y.1,321,926,000 from extraordinary sources. Taxes and stamp duties will collect Y.2,-
159,971,000 while the budget will be officially balanced at Y.3,649,751,000.
The Manchoukuo Government, it was explained, already had paid to Japan Y.19,000,000 for the current fiscal yea" as its share for joint defence expenditures in accordance with the Japan-Manchoukuo Protocol.—Domei,
