Washington, Oct. 20.
The Government must improve and ce-ordinate credit and other machinery to achieve and maintain enduring prosperity, free from disastrous extremes of booms and depressions, declared President Roosevelt to-day in opening the new building of the Federal Reserve Board.
The real mission of the Federal Reserve System, he said, was to gain ior all people the greatest attainable measure of economic well-being and economic security and stability.
This goal, he asserted, could not be attained by the Federal Reserve system alone or without proper functioning of the monetary credit machinery. Only by perfecting the ce-ordination of that machinery with all other instruments of government, the President added, could America hope to achieve and maintain enduring prosperity.—Reuter.
