On Friday night Lonias music masters made their debut at Farren's Tavern, which situated beyond the Columbia Country Club, was closed for several days owing the exigencies of the war situation. Mr. de Kalb and associated artistes rate among the best musicians in Shanghai and their jazz, rhumba and tango melodies probably are without peer. Guests have only to suggest and the request is in order. This band is versatile and present harmony and comedy numbers nightly, as soloists or in groups, to the satisfaction of all.
Owing to the illness of Miss Vera, the ballet will have to continue for several days without the services of their leader, but they do very well indeed. With her return and the proposed addition of several other artistes, they will hold their own in spite of any local opposition.
Mr. "Jo" Farren, in person, assisted by Mr. F. Romer, maitre de hotel, attend in their usual pleasant and welcoming manner to the wants of guests.
