The new-plant, the daily output: of which is estimated at ten tons, re. presents a new link of the oil corporation's refinery-chain, With its biggest factory in Hankow, the corporation is maintaining branch plants in Shanghai, Changsha, Changteh and Chungking. Other new plants will later be established at Wenchow, Chekiang, and other leading cities when business expands.

In the first stage of work only rape oil will be turned out by the local plant as raw materials for such oil are abundant in Anhwei, It is the ultimate object of the factory management to compete with Japanese refined rape oil for industrial uses in the world market. For this purpose emphasis will be laid on clearing the rape oil of dregs.

As for domestic- consumption, flavour instead of purity of the oil will be given the foremost consideration, Tung oil will be refined by the factory in second stage. In this connection, a four-year plan has been worked out by the provincial reconstruction department, according "io which 1,000,000 tung trees will be planted within the next four years. The department estimated that in 1941. a profit of $35000 will be reaped.

The Local Bank of Anhwei is ad-coating a stricter government con-rol over the production and market. ing of vegetable oil in Anhwei. Suggestions have been advanced by the bank for the creation of a provincial vegetable oil control bureau, buying over all native oil stores in the province and opening new oil refineries in their stead.—Central News.
