Just last Saturday one man in the group yesterday said he drove to Soochow and had dinner at the same Garden Hotel at which the maitre d'hôtel and restaurant proprietor were so annoyed by officiousness, He had a quiet pleasant dinner, strolled through a beautiful evening, and had trouble whatever about passports other formalities. It has al-been the same, he said, at all the many little hotels, teahouses and shacks which he has visited on the road.
It was pointed out that misleading reports of the conditions on the roads might easily prevent many from using them and deprive them of the pleasure which a large number of idants here are enjoying regularly.
