Rome. Jan. 5.
King George is sending a reprosentative selection of Leonardo da Vinci's from the Royal Collection at Windsor to the Leonardo Exhibition at Milan this Spring.
The King is lending nineteen pictures to the Exhibition, out of 600 or more in the Royal Collecti which constitutes one of the world's largest and most valuable collection of Leonardo da Vinci's works.
The gesture is quite exceptional, as sending these pictures abroad is a departure from usual custom.—Reuter.
Large Sum Paid Towards Fine, Court Costs Chicago, Jan. 5.
A way for the release of Al Capone from prison, scheduled to take place on January 19, has been cleared by the payment of over $37,000 towards the $50,000 fine and court costs outstanding against the. former gang chieftain. The advocate who made the payment in the District Court did not indicate when the remaining sum would be paid.
Al Capone's release from the Alcatraz Island Penitentiary takes account of time off for good behaviour. He still has an additional one-year term to serve in the Chicago County Gaol, but he will probably be taken to another Federal Institution for treatment.—Reuter.
