Lee Wai-tong Will Come From Hongkong

Lee Wai-tong, one of the foremost footballers in China, will come to Shanghai and participate in a series of charity football games during the Chinese New Year holidays at the Canidrome in aid of the International Red Cross and the Shanghai Refugee Relief work.

At a meeting held yesterday by the representatives of the various responsible bodies it was decided to invite the famous Lee Wai-tong and a formal letter will be posted soon.

Lee's return to the game in Hongkong this season has been capped with great success, Although making only infrequent appearances, generally in charity games, he has played with some of his old' skill. If he is not as fast as he was in his heyday, his shooting power at least is in no way diminished, as the goal-keepers in Hongkong will testify, and he has not yet failed to score in every match in which he has taken part.

His last performance was for China in the International Cup' match against Scotland, He scored three goals for an easy victory. Unfortunately in the last three minutes he received a kick which necessitated his removal from the field. Lee is practically well now and is again in fine condition to display his prowess.

In yesterday's meeting it was also decided that 20 per cent. of the total "gate" will go to the aid of the Jewish Refugees now in Shanghai. Admission will be charged at 50 cents and $1 including the tax, The first game is to take place on February 20 and the second one on the following day. The Chinese will be represented by Tung Hwa and Lido, each team taking part in one game with the inclusion of Lee Wai-tong on both occasions.

Regarding opposition, two suggestions were made. The first was for Lido to play the Seaforth Highlanders and for Tung Hwa to meet Portugal, winners over China in the recent International Cup semi-finals. The second was to ask the S.F.A. to put up two combined teams, one an Al-Civilian side and the other an All-
