¿For the first time in many months, Shanghai had a taste of labour trouble, when 26 disgruntled former workmen of the Ewo Cotton Mills en Yangtszepoo Road, mingled with the night-shift at 5.30 p.m. yesterday in an attempt to gain admittance the factory and therewith, reinstatement.
It appears that the night-shift woriers became somewhat intimidated and a mild panic ensued, whereupon a police party from Yulin Road station was called to the scene and arrested the 26 trouble-makers, who, it was understood, had been recently discharged.
Police officials, investigating the qictter, believe that the panic caused amongst the workers, was what brought the whole trouble about, although the various aspects are now cing studied to ascertain whether ar not any organized attempt was being made to prevent the bona fide workers from going to work.
