Geneva, Jan. 29.
The meeting of the Council of the League of Nations, which was fixed for 11 o'clock this morning, was postponed till 5 o'clock this afternoon. China's appeal was removed from the agenda because Dr. Wellington Koo, the chief Chinese delegate, is awaiting instructions from his Government, Meanwhile. the principal delegations engaged in important consultations to-day.
Considerable importance is attached to the meetings yesterday of Mr. Anthony Eden, the British Foreign Secretary; M. Yvon Delbos the French Foreign Minister; M. Maxim Litvinoff, the Soviet Foreign Commissar, and Dr, Wellington Koo, the chief Chinese delegate to the Couns cil of the League of Nations, Although the greatest secrecy is observed regarding the discussions, it is understood that the situation in the Far East was reviewed in rela~ tion to China's appeal to the Council, and that agreement was reached in principle concerning the text of a resolution to be submitted to the Council on Monday.
It is understood that a message has. been sent to Washington with the object of obtaining the views of the American Government, and it is believed that the idea of a second Brussels Conference is also under consideration.
According to some circles here, the League Council will be asked to approve a resolution encouraging League members to assist China individually.—Reuter.
