Leased to Japanese Company's Hongkong Office Denies Local Report

A report that the owners and former operatórs of the New Asia Hotel in Shanghai have leased the hotel premises in Shanghai to a Japanese company has been emphatically denied by a responsible official of this well-known Chinese hotel in Hongkong.

The official said that since August 1937, when the hotel in Shanghai was closed because of hostilities, all responsible officials of the company left Shanghai. He definitely knew that no negotiations of any sort had been carried out with the Japanese either by the landlords or representatives of the hotel, which tran. ferred its business office to Hong kong many months ago.
