No Further Replanting

During the year under review a further 33 acres of old rubber were ut out and replanted with first class material and the 48 acres replanted last year were up kept at a total cost ai Ch.$16,436.92. During the current veal it is not proposed to replant any further area but the estimated cost of upkeeping the area already replanted is St.$3,155. As the Company has no reserve for replanting it will be necessary to provide for this expenditure out of profits, so that, in effect, whilst your dividends will be adversely affected during the next few years, the capital value of your property, on the other hand, is being steadily improved The Standard Production Allowance for 1939 has been provisionally assessed at 188,000 lb, which is an increase of 13,060 lb. as compared with that for 198, The labour position was easy throughout the year and I am pleased to be able to report that health conditions wore satisfactory The gardens are reported to be free from lallang and other noxious growths and are under a cover of low indigenous bush growths which help to retain the moisture in the soil and to improve its tilth.

Root disease was present. as is the case on all old properties, and 151 trees were removed from the ga dens during the year from this cause
