Hongkong, Dee. 2 Asked to comment. on 'a leading article in yesterday's "Shanghai Evening Post & Mercury" which alleged that Shanghai-bound mall from America was being censored in transit fat Hongkong, the "Hongkong postal authorities declare that transit. mail ly normally merely "passed by the Hongkong, censors, not opened or censored by them.
This was obviously the case, they ate, in the letter quoted by the Evening Post," as the newspaper revealed that it bore the chop "Passed by Censor, Hongkong."
"This chop is used, they declare, merely to indicate that the letter has passed through Hongkong.
In the case of mail which is actually censored, they point out, the ends of the envelope are opened' and a paper geal is afMxed bearing the legend poperied by sikong. "Opened by Censor, Hon;
Text read from the printed page and cleaned; old type leaves the occasional error.
