First Away

Clu Rivau was first away on The Gander with the handicap of three and a half minutes but at Hyde Park Corner the two-and-a-half-minute men were up with him including Sheppárd, who thought there were a couple more jumps after Light Horse Finish. He therefore carried straight on only to find that he was on the wrong path and by the time he turned round he had lost nearly two huntted yards.

"Red" Laidlaw had a little difficulty in inducing Applejack to gallop in the mud and although handicapped at a minute and a half he did not get away until the minute bunch gave kim a lead.

Clark caught up to the leaders just before Chipoo Creek where Abbott was leadíng the field on Bobby. Clark followed Abbott for a distance and when he came to King's gate he came into more familiar country end pressed his pony to pass Abbott and gradually draw away to win comfortably.

Mrs. Andrews passed Abbott just before entering Six Tree Creek Line io finish second. Alec White was ten lengths behind Abbott while Duncan Fraser, who started from the scratch mark, was fifth on Don Alfonso and Sheppard sixth.

After the "Y" hunt everyone, both spectators and riders, thought they had had enough and decided that hunting in heavy snow was not such good fun after all it was decided to postpone the "Z" section of the hunt handicap until next week.
