Mr. Chamberlain Answers Queries On Peace Parleys London, Apr. 24.
Questioned by several members over the formation of the front of peace-loving countries, Mr. Neville Chamberlain, the. Prime Minister, replied in the House of Commons this morning that the Government were maintaining close contact with other Governments' but he was not yet in a position to add anything to what he had said previously.
Replying to Mr. Emanuel Shinwell, Labour member for the Seaham Division of Durham, the Prime Minister stated that he could not say for sure that his statement on the Anglo-Soviet negotiations will be made in the House before Herr Hitler's speech on April 28.
Mr. Shinwell stressed that such-statement appeared to him desirable as it might influence the German Chancellor's address. Mr, Chamberlain replied, "I do not believe that it is desirable to make a premature statement on the negotiations."
The Prime Miniser refused to reply to any questions referring to the present state of the Anglo-Soviet talks.
