A.A.U. Body Still Sees Hope for Olympics Association Ready for Pan-American Games

Hollywood, Florida, Feb. 12, The Board of Governors of the

United States Amateur Athletic Union approved the report of a special Pan-American Games Committee, which recommended that "no final decision be taken to hold any Pan-American gemes in 1940 until Finland has definitely and positively declared its inability to hold the Olympic Games."

At the same time, however, the A.A.U., assembled for its 51st annual convention, took action to be prepared to stage a sports programme involving as many as possible of the American countries in the event that Finland has to abandon the Olympics.

The governors also accepted reports of the track and field and legislative committees, which meant passage of amendments to rules to return to the yardage system of measurement for national indoor championships and revise the system of point scoring in indoor and outdoor meets.—Reuter.
