Madrid Unconcerned

Madrid, Apr. 19.

The rupture of relations between ihe Republican Government and Catalonia has caused no concern im Madrid, where all political parties enthusiastically ratify the granting of full powers to the popular Gen. Jose Miajs, defender of the former capital.

Madrid still remains the centre of an area representing two-fifths of Spain. Food supplies are reaching the city regularly and without difculty, and include such items as frozen meat and tinned milk. Supplies are sent through ports in the Levante and Andalusia provinces, Stocks of raw materials allow for the intensive construction of tanks and planes.

Life is proceeding almost normally in Madrid, where an atmosphere of firm confidence is apparent.—Havas.
