Racing followers in-Shanghai are pleased to see that "Buffy" Maitland is to be again in the saddle today following his fall while riding Pivot Boy on Tuesday. Although his i juries were not very serious. his head was bruised and cut to an uncomfortable extent. But more painful to him than the injuries must have been the keen disappointment in thus being deprived of the pleasure of riding Rain in the Champions on Wednesday He is the regular jockey for the stable and knows how to bring the best out of Rain and Magic Circle. But at the Columbus must be expected to be the winner or close up, or perhaps Northwood, but I am going to give as my forecast, White Willie to be the winner. The griffins Handicap eleventh hour, owing to the accident, "Peanut" Marshall became the jockey of the favourite and, using excellent judgment, brought Rain hom did not do too well but it is quite possible that he has since improved and at 140 pounds may do the trick Although Steve Brodie appears to be outstanding today I think his weight (seven pounds extra) will tell because today he is not dealing with any common field. The winner this year may be Keep Off who with nine pounds off is quite capable of reversing the verdict, Steve Brodie should not be out of the first three and I think White Major will fill the remaining place.
