Danzig Citizens Fired Upon By Sentries While Trying to Cross Border; Bombs in Custom Houses Warsaw, May 11. NIS serious incidents occurred along the Polish-German XI frontier during the past 48 hours; one man was killed, one injured, and bombs were hurled at two Polish Customs Inspectors' houses.
The night before last, a Polish citizen of German origin was killed and another man was wounded by Polish border guards when they attempted to sneak across the frontier. The semiofficial P.A.T. news agency declared that the frontier guards saw the two men trying to get across the border where it ran along the River Obra. They were rowing a small boat.
Firing warning shots, the guards found that they could not stop the men. They thereupon fired at the boat's occupants, who, they thought, wanted to get across the border to join the German army.
