Reports alleging that the Chinese Foreign Ministry and the British Ambassador, Sir Archibald Kerr, had. reached an agreement concerning the Tientsin silver issue, elicited catetorical denials from both the British Envoy and the Chinese Foreign Office, Sir Archibald Kerr declared to Reuter, "The report alleging the Chinese Foreign Ministry and myself had reached an agreement concerning the Tientsin silver problem is untrue An equally emphatic denial was issued by the Chinese Foreign Office. To Reuter an official spokesman stated: "The report entirely is untrue.'
Commenting on the suggestion the report may be "premature" it is pointed out here the reported agree-Reuter. s ment may not take place at all-
