Refugee centres are to close on May 31. It is felt that the early summer season is the best time to get people into their own homes, or to send them to rebuild or set up some kind of shelter. The International Relief Committee is a truly remarkable body. It is composed of university professors, clergymen, doctors and men in the diplomatic service. It has saved hundreds of people, has done preventive medical work, looked after food supplies and is helping to find or preserve animals for farm use. It has run an automobile repair shop, and has stood sturdily in the path of a great war machine, showing true philanthropy when men were not being loved nor were they loving their enemies. I' it is true that war brings out the worst in mem, it is as equally true that it brings out the best.
