Enterprising Shopkeepers Urge Patrons to Buy Hollywood Styles By Cwamies MARTIN

The screen has made the superlatively dressed woman a commonplace to us all and I was not surprised to hear that feminine fashions in England, and probably in every country in the world, have not been uninfluenced by the tastes of Hollywood. I was surprised to discover, however, that men as well as women were apparently looking to the films for a lead in this matter of clothes.

I made the discovery in the East End of London, ina thickly populated area near the docks. In a shop window I read this inducement to buy:

"These shirts were designed to fulfil the exact requirements of film stars. They should suit you.

Accompanying this appeal were photographs of William Powell, Clark Gable, Cary Grant and Erroll Flynn, If the shirts had only been autographed by one or all df these gentlemen, I might have succumbed to the temptation to dress like them, especi ally as the shirts cost but 6s. 6d. each. I offer the suggestion to the enterprising shopkeepers.
