Queer Shot Determines Women's Hockey Title

Lone Goal Secured by In Uno Beating Erin Villa

Finish was written on the hockey season of the Shanghai Ladies Hockey Association as In Uno broke the three-way tie yesterday morning by overcoming Erin Villa 1-0 at Kiaochow Park, thus registering their second successive victory in the play-off to capture the championship in the Second Division, Joan Piccozi was responsible for tallying the only goal. It came in the last three minutes of the first half and the way the ball rolled into the goal was amazing as it was considered impossible for the shot to beat the keeper from a point where there was practically no angle to it.

The scorer was sent away on a hit and run play, The right winger, after having reached the touch line just inside the circle, drove a horizontal shot towards the goal. The opposing custodian, thinking that the shot would sizzle past the upright, apparently made no effort to stop it, But the ball rolled right between the posts and lodged in the net In Uno started at a fast clip for the forwards lost no time. Through incessant attack, Nicky Kavadche, the inside-right, was given an open goal but she missed, Sarah Ahmad was most threatening by carrying most of the raids on the left flank.
