Pope Pius sent his blessing to both Generalissimo Francisco Franco and Nationalist Spain last Sunday, it was announced here last night.
The blessing was sent on the occasion of the beatification of the late Spanish nun, Sister Verduna.
The- Pope's action was regarded here as an indication of very close relations between the Spanish Nationalist Government and the Vatican.
The Vatican, it was recalled, was one of the first governments to recognize the Franco regime during the Spanish civil war.—United Press.
