Nazis Lose Over 1,000 Planes

Paris, May 24.

The losses sustained by the German air force between May 10 and May 20 are estimated in military circles here at 1,000 planes at the least.

Tt is known for certain that during this period 303 German machines were brought down by the French, with 41 more probably brought down. Royal Air Force estimates place their bag at about 360 machines to which figure must be added 76 planes brought down by anti-aircraft batteries. Holland's anti-aircraft batteries accounted for a minimum of 200 planes before that country's army gave up the fight, while the Belgium air force shot down 126 planes and Belgian—anti-aircraft batteries accounted for 60 more.

This general estimate of 1,000 planes is considered a strict minimum, and it is believed that this will prove a hard blow for the Reich considering the material destroyed and, above all, the loss in pilots and ravigat whom it will prove dificult to replace.

In comparison, Allied losses for the same period were slight—Havas.
