Ewo Knocks Up 109 Against Waterworks

Hutchison Scores 39 to Avert Collapse for Jardines

In an evening match starting today at 5 p.m. on the S.C.C. small ground, Ewo in their annual encounter against the Waterworks, could do no better than knock up 109 runs all out.

McMichael and Cmdr. Skyrme opened the innings for Ewo against tack of Geere and Pettit. After a short stand Cmdr, Skyrme was clean bowled by Geere when the score was 12. Leefe failed to live up to expectations and was bowled for a duck. McMichael and Hutchison then became associated in a partnership which eventually took the score s|to 26 before the former presented an eas; catch to Leach. Brazel did not long at the crease before he was adjudged lb.w. and it left to Hutchison and White to raise the total to a more respectable figure. This they did to good effect. Hutchison showed promise and should develop into a batsman of note, his off strokes being particularly impressive while a quick eye and wristwork were evident in his dete play. White was aggressive, score mounted quiekl; took over th long before Leach claimed White's wicket. Brandt then gave an instructive exhibition of how to score ten by dropping the ball between the fieldsman and Hutchison terminated his innings by cocking a ball back to Leach. The latter batsman must be commended on an excellent and invaluable 39 runs. ith Leach finding his length, ainder of the side were soon dismissed to bring the total to 109.

The Waterworks will commence their innings today at 5 pin. and in view of such potential run-getters as Leach, Geere etc. and the deplorable lack of bowlers on the opposing team, they are distinctly favoured to win.
