Fortune's Favourites

Yenping Road used to be a nice quiet locality prior to the advent of the thousands of refugees, but since their arrival residents have had to put up with the following nuisances:

(1) Coolies urinating all over the street, day and night. (This was remedied by the erection of a Urinal by the P.W.D.)

(2) Dumping ordure down the sewer a few yards away from residences, the smell from which is nauseating during this hot weather and compels residents to close their Windows.

(3) "Thousands of refugees, perambulating on the street from 5 a.m. to midnight, keeping up a constant walla walla and at times chanting their Chinese songs.

(4) Free fights and brawls day and night.

(8) Refugees sleeping on doorsteps and disturbing residents' rest, and the stench arising from their mats, etc. is unbearable.

(6) Petty thefts.

Its certainly about time the authorities did something to alleviate the suffering of residents of this locality.
