The leading local Chinese daily, the "Ta Kung Pao," made its last appearance here today. It will resume publication in Chungking.
The departure of the newspaper leaves only three important Chinese dailies here, namely, the "Wuhan Daily News," a Kuomintang organ, the "Sao Tang Pao," organ of the Chinese army, and the "Hsin Hua Jih Pao," a Communist organ.
In a leading article this morning the "Ta Kung Pao" says that "the paper has moved from Tientsin to Shanghai, then to Hankow and now to Chungking in order to follow the Chinese authorities. We are not refugees. Every inch of Chinese territory is another Tientsin or another Hankow.
"Though our bodies are in Chungking, our hearts will be with our soldiers on the various fronts—in the "Tapieh mountains, in the Yangtze River valley, on Poyang Lake, in North China and in Kwangtung."—Reuter.
