Programme Slightly Amended by Delayed Arrival in Colony programme which has been arranged Tt is now possible to publish the
for the Shanghai Interport Lawn Bowlers during their stay in Hongkong. Due to the delayed arrival of the visitors the original arrangements had to be amended, it not being possible to commence play until Saturday afternoon, when a Shanghai four, J. M. C. Lapes (skip), A- M. Gutierrez, J. W. Brierley and K. L, Swartzell, met and defeated the Craigengower Cricket Club by 22 shots to 19.
On Sunday afternoon the first of the Interport series was played and resulted in a draw, the score being 20 shots all. Shanghai was represented by H. Wallace (skip, W. J. Mac-Dermott, A. M, Gutierrez and J. M. C. Lopes. The reports of the play which have come through are meagre, but it is Jearnt that Wallace distinguished himself by remarkably good play. The fact that the game ended in a draw has given rise to considerable comment as the general impression among local lawn bowlers was that in the event of a tie in any of the actual Jaterport series an extra end, or ends, would be played so that a definite conclusion could be reached, this having been done a few years ago when the Hongkong team were visitors to Shanghai. If Shanghai win one of the next two matches and Hongkong the other the series will result in a draw, the way matters now stand. The reason why the extra end, was not played is awaited in Shanghai with great interest.
The second of the Interpor teaches will be played tomorrow at the Civil Service Club and the last on Saturday at the Club de Recreio. The Interport Dinner will be held at the close of this game. Of great interest is the match to be played on October 25 between Shanghai and the Governor's team.
