London silver was 3 down both ready and forward, being 19jy for ready and 19% forward. New York was unquoted and Bombay was 1 anna down at 51.06.
It was reported demand was small. There was a little general selling. Market ruled steady.
The local exchange market opened with sellers to merchants at 8d. sterling and 154j U.S.$.
The Interbank market opened quietly steady with sellers and buyers for cash at 8d. sterling and 15% U.S.$. For sometime there was very little interest in the market but afternoon there was heavy buying for forward delivery and forward rates declined sharply though cash rates were unchanged.
