Comment on Stripping

"Peterborough" in the "Daily Telegraph" has an interesting. note on General Homma, who, he says, seems to be trying a policy of apeasement by offering to strip be-lore the journalist at Tientsin in order to show that Japanese see no disgrace in stripping. Lieut-Gen. Homma (says Peterborough) thorn into her eye, where it remained for three weeks till she got it taken out at Tsingtao, There are no politics in the book and no apparent idea of propaganda, and I have never yet read anything which so vividly brought before me what the war means, Miss Hyde also has an uncanny knack of catching the peculiar a mosphere of the different places through which she passed, Shanghai Hongkong, Canton, Hankow and above all tragic Hsuchowfu, with the people patiently picking over the ruined heaps of their devastated houses. The book is called "Dragon Rampant."
