The New Cinema Plea for British Pictures

To the Editor of the "Mobrh-Chixa Darcy News"

Sim—Now that a new large cinema is rapidly nearing completion at the corner of Avenue Edward VII and Rue Baron Gross, thus ending once and for all the "no suitable theatre excuse," would it be too optimistic to hope that the management of this Picture house be approached by the right parties concerned with a view io their showing some, if not exclusively, British films? By "British films" I do not mean what is permit-ied in Shanghai by grace of their being distributed in the U.S, but the Very excellent productions of such companies as are perhaps better known to the Eskimos than they are to Shanghailanders.

Surely, what is coming out of Elstree, Denham and Twickenham these days could well be distributed here with much success, and now that a chance is presenting itself in this new theatre, will not the local British Chamber of Commerce, or some such good Samaritan grasp the opportunity before it is too late?
