Seaforths Trounce Savoia

Scots Grow Stronger as Game Progresses to Win 5-2; Italians Fade in Final Half FTER being one goals down in the first moments of play, the Seaforth Highlanders came back with a vengeance to dominate the major part of the game and win by 5-2 in yesterday First Division soccer encounter played before a large crowd at the Canidrome.

The onslaught of the Scots gained momentum as the battle progressed while the Savoia players, after being impressively, grew tired and somewhat disheartened towards the close.

The start of the game did not give a favourable impression of the Seaforths and for the first twenty minutes the game was hardly good football. From the start the Seaforths were puzzled by the long passes of their opponents and until about half way through the first half the majority of the team adopted the same rushing style of football as the Italians.

The first goal came as a surprise to everyone, The Savoia kicked off and their forwards made a concerted rush through the Scots defence almost before one of the Seaforths players had moved. Cumis received the ball from Carenza and took a fast shot which hit the bar and bounced into the net over Atkinson's head.

This point.for the Italians seemed to give them courage and they pressed but the ball was soon sent down to the Seaforth' forwards who crowded the Savoia defence down to their own goal line and the play then remained for the most part of this half in the Savoia area.

The mainstay of the Savoia attack was their good passing and this often gave Carenza and his forwards a chance to slip through. One of these dashes brought applause for Atkinson when he dropped on a ball outside the goal area just as Carenza was about to shoot. As usual Carenza was the principal in the Savoia attack though he was ably assisted by Cumis and these two players took every opportunity of giving Atkinson a hot time.

Though the standard of play was not brilliant, the Seaforths managed to stay as long as ten minutes at a time in the Italian half of the field but as was seen in previous maidies their shooting was wild and many chances were lost through the players being inaccurate in their passing and shooting. half thanks to the good work of the Abteilung defence and it was not until fifteen minutes after the restart that the first goal went to the French when Vasih took a free kick from just outside the penalty area and passed to Culurd who took a quick shot at goal and scored.

It did not take Hans Bolloni long to even the score and this stood till ien minutes from the end when during the constant pressing of the French forward line, a centred pass to Singn gave him a chance to put in a very last shot which Eikhoff had no hopes of saving.
