Chinese Denial

Hankow, June 6.

A spokesman of the Chinese For-en Ministry declared yesterday that the allegation of "The Times that "the Soviet Russian influence in China has greatly increased" to be "simply absurd".

"The Times", it will be recalled, published a lengthy report which asserted that the President of the gislative Yuan, Mr. Sun Fo, conducted negotiations for a new nonaggression pact with the Soviet Rus-sign Foreign Commissariat during his recent visit to Moscow, that Soviet Russian agents received permission for a-Communist propaganda campaign in China under the motto "Victory for Communism", and that a large number of Soviet Russian volunteers who were trained in Cuter Mongolia have been enlisted in the ranks of the Chinese Eighth Route Army.

The Chinese. spokesman pointed out that the non-aggression pact concluded by China and Soviet Russia on August 21, 1937, is not due to expire before 1942, so that a prolongation of the pact is not neces-Sarv at the present moment.

The spokesman, moreover, emphasized that "Soviet propaganda is still officially forbidden in China." He also denied that Soviet Russian volunteers trained in Outer Mongolia hed been enlisted in the - Eighth Route Army.—Trans-Ocean, Woman Tells of Her
