Tokyo, Nov, 11.
Communications Ministry officials today began to study means to avoid confusion in radio lanes when tae eleven new radio call-sign prefixes acquired by Japan at Cairo this spring are put to use beginning on January 1.
With only the letter "J" authorize ed as a prefix for Japanese operated wireless stations, the Communications Ministry ran out of letter combinations. With recent use of radio in telegraph and telephone communications, new prefixes became imperative.
From 400 fishery vessels equipped with radio before the hostilities there are now 800 and this growth shows no sign of abating.
At the International Telecommunications Congress in Cairo Japan was allotted the additional call-sign prefixes of OK EM HO BR EU EY OW EX EY LIG and HN in addition to J.—Domei.
