Berlin, Dec, 22.
Peter Forster, who escaped from the Buchenwald Concentration Camp in May, and was handed over to the German authorities by the Czechs on Tuesday, was sentenced to death by a special court at Weimar, and executed, yesterday.
Forster, a young German Social Democrat, fied to the forests with a fellow prisoner by the name of Bagatski, after his escape from Buchenwald. A Storm Trooper Guard gave chase and in the fight, fell dead, struck by a spade. A hue and cry was immediately raised, and Bagatski was eventually found hiding in a kiln, five days later, and was beheaded.
Forster reached Czechoslovakia. The Germans maintained that the killing of the Storm Trooper Guard made Forster a criminal, hot a political prisoner, and pressed for his surrender. On Tuesdzy, their representations proved successful.—Reuter.
