Templeton Does Not Think Games Will be Held There Buffalo, June 30.
In an interview with the "Buffalo Times" here today, Dink Templeton, world famous track and field mentor of Stanford University and American Olympic bulwark for "many years, revealed that he did not believe Japan would hold the Twelfth World Olympiad in 1940.
"I won't serve on any coaching committee for the American team," Templeton said, "even if America does participate in the Games. Quite a few people in the athletic world think it is none of our business what Japan is doing, but I do not agree with this shut eye policy.
"Either you are for or against somebody."
Charley Hunter, coach of the San Francisco Olympic Club, elaborated still further on the agitation against Japan as à site for the Games, not only because of the undeclared war on China but because of Japan's unprecedented action in postponing the date of the Olympiad. The new date makes it extremely difficult for any American college stars—who compose nine-tenths of all U.S. Olympic squads:-fo participate, owing to the necessity for attendance in classrooms.—United Press.
