Berne, Sept. 29. Switzerland's economic situation, and more particularly the question of supplies, is causing some concern to the Federal Government, Coun-oiller Stampel stated today when he inaugurated the agricultural exhibition at Lugano:
"Our imports are meeting with many difficulties," he said, "our reserve stocks have decreased, and we shall have to depend more upon domestic production, The new watchword must be not an inch of uncultivated' ground.' The dwindling of our raw material stocks, coupled with the difficulty to import these materials, may soon cause general unemployment in Switzerland."
He stressed, in conclusion, that the people should maintain their faith in Switzerland which, after [six centuries of history, will be able to face the most violent shake-up which may occur in Europe.—Havas.
