During the year a special effort was made to visit and supervise the testing of all stationary fire pumps in Dulld-ngs, of which there are' 105. Each ump was tested once per month and' defects immediately reported to property owners. The speed with which necessary repairs were effected shew-that properly owners are becoming! more alive to the value of this very important appliance and it is pleasing: to record that 91 per cent. of the lumps and equipment are now ready for instant use Fire Insiallations—There are 1.575 buildings in the Settlement with Fire The following fire installations were completed during the year, or were course of being installed at the end of the year:
